An MA degree from Appalachian State University in 1968 led to teacher, coach, dean of men and athletic director positions at Mount Olive Junior College.
She was a homemaker and an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting, sculpture and ceramics.
She also volunteered in Florida for Alzheimer’s care and grief care.
Allen, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Preston Smack and sister, Dorothy Bennett. Sabina Calabro -- Sabina Calabro, 88, of Laurel, passed away at home on Monday, Feb. Sabina was born in New York City, a daughter of the late Louis and Rose De Candia.
Sabina graduated from the Pratt Institute in New York.
