These settings affect the offline address book download.
This can cause the “Updating Address Book” status appearing for a long time.
Outlook is helping you complete other activities and does not allow the address book update to interfere.
We are using Exchange 2007 server and Outlook 2010.
Outlook clients don’t see new email user or mail-enabled distribution group when they are just having been created in exchange 2007 server.
My computer slows down when Outlook shows the "Updating Address Book" status. In computers with slow hard disk drives, such as portable computers, or running Outlook in a Virtual machine, the process of updating the address book can slow down the computer if the hard disk is fragmented.
To improve offline address book download performance, try defragmenting your hard disk.
Google-ing bit here and there I have found some instructions on how to do it but it doesn’t work for some reason. New mail-enabled AD user/s has been created in Exchange 2007. Right click on ‘Default Offline Address Book’ (Organization Configuration - Mailbox – Offline address Book) and choosing ‘Update’.In Cached Exchange Mode, Outlook 2007 & 2010 downloads a local copy of the Global Address List (GAL), but only updates it every 24 hours. In order to reflect any changes or updates made to the Global Address List, you can force Outlook to download a new copy of the GAL.So, basically here is what needs to be done Update OAB on Mailbox Server - this would generate the newer OAB (lzx) files, Now, you need these files to be copied over to the CAS Server for distribution. So, you restart FDS and BITS Service on CAS Server.
